We read about a new “hotel” carved out of the jungle by Palya del Carmen near Tulum. When we arrived at night, a boy behind a card table greeted us and took us to this wonderful palapa right on the beach. There were no locks on the doors since there were no other hotels or people around. They put out hammocks to show that the palapa was occupied. There was a bar where they put milk in a long dish and wild canaries would fly in at sunset to drink. This was such a simple heaven with beautiful light.
