This was originally an oil on canvas of what was a nightly ritual. I’d get home late from working at the restaurant (James’ Beach) and Bartok and I would take a walk (about 3am) through Venice. We would sometimes sit on this corner of Oakwood and Palms and just listen to the quiet together. I also snuck in a tribute to Edward Hopper, (I was once complimented as being a Modern California Hopper by the LA Times, in my first show at the LA Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park in 1981) by having my legs refer to a piece he did of a bicyclist resting in a similar pose. This corner has since changed into a big new house.
