This piece is about experiencing the calm beauty of the canals in Venice, a place I love and a place I often paint. I did it also to celebrate returning to painting full time and a neighborhood pop-up exhibit I am doing for the Venice Art Crawl, an organization I helped start and which is now in its 12th year. Shown is my partner James and Brandy. The houses are the way I remember them when I first moved to Venice in 1981. I love Venice for the light, among other things. The sunset shown is an explosion of color. I love this piece.
